Broken Tower

mosul afghanistan 1971
(picture by Pieter van Vlaardingen @ PicturePush)

The picture somewhat gives the idea of a tower adjacent to a building in its ruins. The tower seems to be more of a minaret which means it had got Muslim architecture. A tower is mostly British in style.

The gate behind the tall structure seems to serve as the entrance to some place. The structure behind the minaret is arch shaped testifying to its Mohammedan origin because such kind of Architecture is unique to the Muslims.

The gateway seems to be very old as it shows off its dilapidated condition. Comparatively the minaret seems to be new as it is not broken in several places like the gate behind.

Its interesting to note the there are birds perched on the minaret and from the look of the birds it seems they are the kind which reside near water bodies and live on small water animals and fishes. This is an indication of a water body or a river nearby.
